Dr. Megan Clapton, LPC, NCC

Dr. Megan Sones Clapton is a licensed professional counselor and the founder of Mindful Therapy in Ridgeland, Mississippi. A Jackson native, Dr. Clapton holds B.A.s in Philosophy and Art History from the College of Charleston, a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from The Citadel, and a Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Mississippi College. For over 20 years, she has worked in hospitals, non-profits, schools, and private practice, in addition to being involved in many professional organizations, including the American Counseling Association, the Mississippi Counseling Association, the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues in Counseling, and the Association for Humanistic Counseling.

Dr. Clapton uses mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy to help her clients achieve their personal therapeutic goals. She believes in building client resiliency through the development of positive coping skills, increasing self-efficacy.

In addition to individual therapy, Dr. Clapton enjoys hosting meditation and creativity retreats, art meditation workshops. Megan also does workplace consulting for universities and companies such as LuLuLemon, private law firms, the Mississippi Bar Association, and the Mississippi Arts Commission.

Dr. Clapton holds national and state certifications for counseling. Mindful Therapy was named “Mississippi’s Best Mental Health Clinic” by the Clarion-Ledger.
