A Jackson native, Dr. Megan Sones Clapton is a licensed professional counselor and founder of Mindful Therapy. She believes in building client resiliency through the development of positive and mindfulness based coping skills, increasing self-efficacy. Employing innovative treatment techniques ( art, tech, music), Dr. Clapton specializes in integrative mindfulness based cognitive behavioral therapy.
Dr. Clapton has counseling experience in private and public clinics, universities and independent schools. She earned her B.A. in Philosophy and Religious Studies from the College of Charleston before receiving a M.A. in Psychology from the Citadel in South Carolina. Dr. Clapton received her Doctorate in Counseling from Mississippi College.
Megan is involved in many professional organizations including the American Counseling Association, the Mississippi Counseling Association, the Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues in Counseling, and the Association for Humanistic Counseling. Dr. Clapton also holds national and state certifications for counseling.
